Maria "Connie" Valerio Guibord
February 5, 1942 - June 17, 2010
Born in Cebolla, New Mexico, Connie was the oldest of six children. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, her inner strength surprised many. Coming from modest beginnings, she started her career at the IRS as an entry-level worker. She quickly rose through the ranks and finally retired as a section chief manager.
In addition to her successful career, she was very generous with her time and served on numerous committees. Connie also volunteered for many social activities, especially those that involved her children, or her church.
Connie was strong willed, determined and lived life on her own terms. Those who knew her best, loved and admired these qualities. Out of all her many accomplishments, Connie's greatest joy was her family.
As a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt or friend, she was always someone that you could count on for a hot meal, a helping hand, or objective advice. Connie also had a keen sense of adventure. She was always willing to try new things and had many talents such as cooking, gardening, painting, crocheting, sewing and entertaining. She loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping, which was one of her favorite ways to relax.
She had seven children, six of whom survive her. Sam (Cindy) Valerio, Angel (Kael) Thomson, Valerie Valerio, Bridget (Mark) Kendall, Tifany Pacific, and Heather Carlin. She is also survived by her siblings, Delores (Stuart) Metz, Thomas (Bertha) Salazar, Eleanor (Jay) Rennemeyer and Brian Salazar, 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Guibord, daughter Lenore Valerio, her parents and one brother.
She touched many lives with her compassion, love, and generosity. Connie will be greatly missed by her friends, family, and especially her children. Her spirit will live on in those that she touched.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary of Ogden 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Friday June 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
