Marian DeWitt Johnston

BOUNTIFUL - Marian DeWitt Johnston, 88, passed away March 21, 2010. She was born September 25, 1921 to Theodore Roosevelt DeWitt and Anna Louise Fort in Ogden, Utah. She was the eldest of seven children, Robert; Donald; Jack; half-sisters, Claudia and DeEtta and half-brother, Noall.

She married David Leon Johnston on September 17, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised four children, Gregory L. (Lorna); Gary A. (Debbie); Carol D. (Tim) Hansen; and Mari-Lynn (Brad) Wilson. Leon passed away March 11, 1990.

Marian was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various church callings. She was a Temple Ordinance Worker for seven years between the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples.

One of her finest accomplishments was serving 16 years as a Senior Friend Volunteer at Lakeview Hospital. She started volunteering in June 1994. Her hours of service totaled over 2, 320.

She worked as an operations officer in Banking for 19 years.

Marian loved to garden and travel. She thoroughly enjoyed the company of many friends and neighbors. She will be remembered for her quick smile and fun personality. Her greatest joy was being with her family which consisted of 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Marian is survived by her sisters-in-law, Jeannine DeWitt, LaRue DeWitt, LaVada Johnston, Virginia Johnston, brother-in-law, Elwood (Cleone) Johnston; half-sister, DeEtta (Ben) Brown and half-brother Noall James (Saundra) Child.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bountiful 31st LDS Ward Chapel, 585 E.Center Street, Bountiful. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday at the church prior to services.

Interment, Lakeview Memorial Estates Cemetery, Bountiful, Utah.
