Marion D Taylor Obituary (1923 - 2018)

Marion D. Taylor Born 5/08/1923 - Passed 08-14-2018 Marion D. Taylor age 95 passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 14, 2018. Marion was born to Joseph and Rose Bruels of St. Clair, Minnesota, May 8, 1923. She was the second to the youngest of eight children. She grew up on her parents farm doing housekeeping chores and caring for chickens and geese among other farm animals. From those early years she developed her love of all animals especially her dogs, Cleo and Colie. The farm life had also taught her the respect of the land. Marion derived great satisfaction from planting her flowers and vegetables and watching them grow. She was always happy to share her bounty with her neighbors and friends. After graduating from St. Clair High School in 1941 she attended Business College. When completing her courses she moved to Long Beach, California to live with her eldest sister Marcella and to find employment. It was World War II and Marion volunteered to work as a USO hostess. She felt a great deal of pride in helping these young men so far from their families and home to find some enjoyment at the USO Canteen. Soon after moving to California Marion found work as a secretary for Atlantic Richfield Oil Refinery and retired in 1970. Marion married in 1948 and gave birth to three children, two son's Stephen and Terrill and a daughter, Dianne. The marriage was not successful and soon she found herself raising her children on her own. Marion was a dedicated mother who taught her children respect, discipline and to think of others before themselves. She worked multiple jobs to ensure her children had a roof over their heads, food on the table and a religious upbringing. Marion gave of herself to elderly friends who did not have families of their own by including them in her children's lives and making them a part of holiday and birthday celebrations. She was a thoughtful and giving person. After many years as a single parent and carrying the responsibility alone she met and married the love of her life, Henry Taylor. Henry, a kind and fun loving man brought warmth, joy and laughter into her life. By this time all her children had grown and together they made the decision to move to North Ogden, Utah, where they built a beautiful life together. These were perhaps her happiest years. Sadly after 27 years of marriage Henry passed away and mom returned to California to be closer to her family. Marion was preceded in death by her husband Henry Taylor, her son Stephen Coker, step-son LaMar Taylor, her parents and all seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children Terrill Coker, daughter, Dianne Nangano, son-in-law Edward Nangano, daughter in laws, Susan Coker and Irene Coker, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Marion also leaves behind her two step-children, Janice Henney and Dale Taylor and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 514 24th Street, Ogden, Utah 84401 at 10:00 AM, Friday September 7th. Burial scheduled for 11:00 AM at Ben Lomond Cemetery 526 E. 2850 N North Ogden, Utah 84414.
