Marilyn Stokes Macdonald - Brigham City
June 18, 1942 - October 28, 2005
Our beloved companion, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and counselor was taken from us in a tragic accident on Friday, October 28, 2005.
She was born in Rigby, Idaho on June 18, 1942 to Ellis Alfred and Lottie Barrett Stokes. She was raised in Blackfoot and Fruitland, Idaho where she graduated from Fruitland High School. She earned a degree in education from BYU where she met and later married Byron Van Macdonald of El Paso, Texas in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple on December 19, 1963. Van and Marilyn spent 22 years of their married life in El Paso, Texas raising their 5 children and 10 years in Brigham City, Utah where they enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren and extended family.
Marilyn was an active member of the LDS church where she was currently serving as the Young Women's President in the Lakeview Ward in Brigham City, Utah. She was a professional counselor and play therapist with a thriving practice in Brigham City. Her passion in life was to help those in need, especially children. She believed that personal relationships and people were the most important thing in life. The message that she always tried to share was to be kind and loving to one another. Her children and grandchildren were the most important people in her life, and she always tried to teach them that family is important and should be cherished. No matter where she lived, she has touched people's lives and did whatever she could to help and heal those in need. She was a gifted artist and enjoyed painting, drawing and creating beautiful scrapbooks of her family.
She is survived by her beloved companion of 41 years, Byron Van Macdonald, her children: Scott E. (Amy) Macdonald, Bradley V. (Stephenie) Macdonald, H. Ross (Andrea) Macdonald, Marcia Macdonald (Evan) Mitchell, and Martin L. (Lindsey) Macdonald.
