Marjorie Evangeline Smith Nelson

GARLAND - Marjorie Evangeline Smith Nelson, 94 passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Bear River Valley Care Center.
Marjorie was born in Staples Minnesota on February 3, 1914 a daughter of Frank Johnathan and Olive Stockweather Smith.
She attended many schools up to the 8th grade in Sioux City, Iowa and North Eastern Montana. During WWII she was a welder on the dry docks for Pollock ship yard in Stockton, CA. She later became an LPN and worked in several hospitals in South Dakota, Montana, California and Utah including Tremonton.
Marjorie married Gordon Underwood Nelson on March 31, 1931 in Broadus Montana. He died on May 21, 1953.
She became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having been baptized by her son in 1955 in Lead, South Dakota. Marjorie worked in the Genealogy Library and had served in many church callings.
She enjoyed crocheting afghans and had made over 100.
Surviving are her son Robert Eugene and daughter-in-law Gloria Nelson, Garland, UT; three grandchildren: Sheila Welch, Sandy (Carlos) Astle, Melanie (Kyle) Rees, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, six brothers and three sisters, one grandson Allan Dale Nelson, one great grandson Gerald Allen Astle.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 11:30 at the Garland Cemetery, 13525 North 6000 West, Garland. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Garland 4th Ward Chapel, 175 South Main, Garland. Services under the direction of Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City.
