Marjorie Stokes Wood

CORINNE - Marjorie S. Wood 87, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2001 at Pioneer Care Center.
Marjorie Stokes was born August 3, 1913 in Bothwell, Utah. Marjorie was the 5th child of 12 born to Thomas William and Annie Laura Nichols Stokes.
Marjorie's early life was spent helping on the family's farm. She attended local schools and graduated from Bear River High School.
On January 22, 1936, Marjorie married Elmer Larsen. They lived on their farm in Corinne. In the early 1950's they built a brick home across the road from the little house they had been living in, and that was Marjorie's beloved home until February, 2001 when poor health required her move to the Pioneer Care Center in Brigham City. Her husband Elmer passed away in the fall of 1963. She was married to Dallas Wood for a brief time.
Marjorie loved all living things and enjoyed her beautiful flower garden.
She was very happy to be a farmers wife and proud of the accomplishments on their farm. She provided flowers from her garden for the alter of the Corinne First Ward Chapel for many years.
Marjorie has been a member of the Corinne First Ward since 1935. During that time she held numerous callings, including Primary and Sunday school teacher. Marjorie was a member of the DUP, had been very active in the Cancer Society, and was a volunteer for many years at the Corinne Elementary School and a volunteer at the bookmobile. She had a special rapport with children. Marjorie was an avid and accomplished bowler for many years.
Marjorie is survived by sisters,Arvilla Stark of Tremonton; Leona Redford of Napa, CA and Elaine (Richard) Taliaferro of Dayton, OH; and brothers, Howard (Joyce) Stokes of Tremonton and Joseph (Ruth Elaine) Stokes of Corinne. Brothers Floyd, Lee, Dallas, Verl, Marston and sister Florence preceded her in death. Many nieces and nephews have happy memories of Marge.
Her family finds comfort in the hope that she will be with loved ones and that some day we will see her again.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 17, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the Corinne Chapel, 2325 North 4000 West, Corinne.
Friends may call Wed., May 16, 2001 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT and Thursday 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Church.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
