Washington Terrace, Utah
Mark Edwin Downey, the man with a heart as wide as the Utah sky, left us on April 2, 2026. Born on November 10, 1960, in Ogden, Utah, Mark was a beacon of humor and wit, always ready to lighten the mood. His empathetic nature and loving soul were evident in every interaction. Mark spent his time doing what he loved - watching TV (mainly Westerners with John Wayne who he had big love for) and wishing he was fishing. Mark loved to fish!
Mark's quick wit and funny bone weren't just for laughs. He was a master at using humor to connect with others, creating a circle of friends that spanned from his birthplace in Ogden to Lancaster, California, and back to Washington Terrace, Utah, where he spent his final years. His friends and family knew they could always count on Mark for a belly laugh.
Mark was an empathetic soul. His magnetic personality drew people in, and the warmth of his spirit made them stay. His kids and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He is survived by his daughters, Mindy (Jason) Solomon, Mandy (Angelo) Flores, and Melissa Downey, as well as Miranda Milenoff, his beloved daughter of the heart. His laughter will echo in the hearts of his grandchildren: Laila, Aubrie, Destini, Lilly, Ayden, Alister, and Xavier. His presence will also be missed by his brother, Jim Downey; sister, Christine Goodman; step-daughters, Shelby and Dani Stonehocker; and step-son, Chris (Crystal) Stonehocker.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Downey, and Lynnette (Russell - deceased) Miller, his favorite stepfather, Woody, his brothers Kevin and Tom Downey, his special cat, Savanna, and his ex-wife and friend, Wendy Downey. We can almost hear them now, laughing together in that great beyond. Though we mourn their loss, we find comfort in knowing that they are together again, sharing stories and smiles.
We would like to extend our deepest, most sincere gratitude to the exceptional team of healthcare professionals who provided such compassionate care during his final journey.
A special thank you to Dr. Gary Holland and his team for their expertise and steadfast support. We are also profoundly grateful to Kristi and the staff at A-Plus Home Health, as well as the team at Symbii, for the remarkable patience, kindness, and dignity they showed him. Your dedication provided our family with immense comfort during a difficult time, and we will never forget the grace you brought into his home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Mark's memory to Weber County Animal Services, honoring his love for his animal companions.
In honor of Mark, let's remember to laugh a little louder, love a little harder, and always have a fishing rod at the ready. We invite you to share your memories of Mark on his memorial page. Upload your favorite photos, share your favorite Mark moments, and let's celebrate his life.
