SALT LAKE CITY - Mark Paul Helms was killed on November 22, 2009.

He was born on May 27, 1962 in Ogden, Utah to Paul Newton Helms and Rosalie Hull.

He graduated from Roy High School in 1980, served an L.D.S. Mission in Toronto, Canada. He married Debbie Ripley 1986, they later divorced.

Mark was talented and had interests in music, performing, composing and arranging. He was heavily involved in genealogical research and church service. He had a love for people and making them laugh. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his father, mother and step-father (Ferril R. Muir), grandfather, Norman Louis Hull and step-grandmother, Eloise Muir, brothers, Larry H (Wendy) Helms of Manassa, CO; Alan C. (Colleen) Helms of Roy; sister, Marlene (Tim) Pruess of Salt Lake City; step-sisters, Amy (Todd) Wilhelm of Cornish, UT; Anna (Jason) Van Shaar of Abbington, PA; Holly (Spencer) Castle of Pleasant View, UT; Emily (Darren) Pearsen of Uintah, UT; step-brothers, Aaron (Juliette) Muir of Smithfield, UT; Cameron (Wendy) Muir of Lehi, UT; Dustin J. Craig of Salt Lake City, UT; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandmothers, Elizabeth F. Hull, Frieda B. Helms, grandfather, William L. Helms and step-grandfather Rulon G. Muir.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, where family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.

Private interment will be in the Hooper Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations at any branch of America First Credit Union in Mark's name.
