Marlin K Penrod Obituary (1932 - 2004)

Marlin K (Red) Penrod, 72, passed away August 15, 2004 at his home of a sudden heart attack. He was born June 24, 1932 in Warren, Utah, a son of George Marion and Sarah Mariah Hodson Penrod. On December 27, 1955 he married Kathryn Simpson, the love of his life, in Elko, Nevada. His family was the most important thing in his life. Red was a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked with his dad for the Southern Pacific Railroad. With his brother Gary and their wives, he owned the Stockman's CafAC. near the Golden Spike Coliseum and the Depot Grocery in West Weber. He also owned Red's Corner CafAC. in West Weber. He owned Counter Point Construction with his sons. He loved to watch horse racing and he owned his own race horse. He was a boxing fan and his family loved to gather at his house to watch the fights. He loved life and was a happy outgoing man. He loved to sing and laugh with his family and friends. He was always happy. He always thought more about serving others than he worried about himself. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, three sons and two daughters, Marlin Scott (Kathy) Penrod, West Warren; George Kelly Penrod, Hooper; Danny Penrod, West Warren; Lynette K. Penrod, Plain City; Lori Ann Penrod (Dean) Fielding, West Warren; three brothers and one sister, Reva Barrow, Dale Penrod, Joseph A. Penrod and Gary Penrod. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Casey (Ryne), Jon Wyllie, Ryan (Krissie), Jeremy, Brandon, Skyler, Audrey, Jessica, Heida, Trista and two great-grandchildren, Paige and Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Freida; his brothers, Ross and Marion; his brother-in-law, Jesse Barrow and a much-loved granddaughter, Georgianna.
