Martha Spoor

–

Lehi, Utah

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Martha Spoor, affectionately known as Marty, Marvey, or Ma-ta, on June 4th, 2024. Born on March 11th, 1944, in Galveston, TX, Martha was a beacon of love, humor, and warmth throughout her life. She was a compassionate soul who brought comfort to others, a dedicated friend and family member, and a woman of faith who found joy in serving within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Martha's contagious laughter and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will forever be remembered for her endearing humor.
Martha had an adventurous spirit that was reflected in her love for traveling and camping. As a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys, she enjoyed cheering on her favorite team, often bringing the room to life with her enthusiasm. As a Realtor, her dedication and integrity were unwavering, often going above and beyond to ensure her clients found their perfect home. Her love for her community was evident when she served as the First Mayor of Cedar Hills, Utah, at a time when there were only 300 homes, and later as President of the Condo Association in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She was a lover of crafting, cooking, and made the best salsa, often sharing her culinary creations with friends and family.
Martha's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found joy in teaching Adult Sunday School and serving as a Relief Society teacher within her church. Her dedication to her faith was reflected in her commitment to complete her family history and genealogy. She was also known for her love of refereeing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Girls Volleyball.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ivan Herbert Spoor Jr. and Virginia Ann Novy Spoor and her brother Herbert Edward Spoor. She is survived by her siblings, Laura Spoor (Daniel McAtee), Stephen Spoor (Emily) and best friend Patsy Brown along with Patsy's family who embraced Martha as one of their own because family means you are a part of something very wonderful. It means you will love and be loved into eternity.
Martha's life was filled with the love of her friends, her church community, and her cherished dogs, Teddy, Duchess, and Missy. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her compassion, dedication, and generosity.
We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photos of Martha on her memorial page https://my.gather.app/remember/martha-spoor as a tribute to her remarkable life.
