Marva Sorenson Dobbs
Our sweet and loving mom passed away on June 13, 2021 at home. Mom was born in Richmond, Utah to Lewis Dean Sorenson and Winona Draper on January 19, 1933. Mom was the oldest of 5 children.
Mom attended school in Richmond and Smithfield, Utah. Growing up on a farm, she would always say the work was hard but something that was also rewarding.
Mom married Kenneth Dobbs on October 6, 1950, they lived in Logan, Utah. This union was blessed with 5 children 4 girls and 1 boy. Guess who the favorite child was? In August 1962 with 5 children in tow, they moved the family to Roy, Utah. Even bringing the favorite one too! They later divorced, mom continued to work, maintain her home and raise 5 kids working very hard to do so. Even her favorite one remained until her passing.
Mom worked at Sierra Lingerie for many years making many friends. Mom later worked at North Ogden Elementary School, working in the lunchroom making more friends there especially Clydean Roskelly.
Mom had a lot of interest in sewing as a result she was an excellent seamstress. Mom enjoyed many trips to Wendover. Mom makes the best Fruit Cake. She enjoyed Christmas, when family could gather at her house.
Mom is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, 1 brother Jerry Sorenson, 2 sons-in-law's; Michael Thomas, Bud Conley and 1 daughter-in-law Jami Dobbs.
Surviving by mom's passing are 5 children; Valorie Nelson, Debbie (Kim) Dabb, Linda Conley, Jackie (Gary) Strong, Kevin Dobbs, 1 brother, Bob Sorenson and 2 sisters: Betty (Jim) Hemmert, Karen (Kenneth) Strong. 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, with 1 on the way.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 21, 2021 at 1:00 PM with a viewing prior to services 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM at Myers Mortuary 5865 S 1900 W Roy, Utah. Interment will follow services at Evergreen Memorial Park.
