Marvin Elbert Jensen

–

Roy, UT

Our loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather passed away September 22, 2018 of multiple medical illnesses. Marvin Elbert Jensen was born in Ogden Utah, September 29, 1941 to Delbert and Dorothy Jensen, only moments before his twin Melvin. He is the oldest of 7 children.
Marvin was sealed to Cheryl Kibbe Dyer, in the Salt Lake temple, on May 11, 1964. Together they had 3 sons and 3 daughters. Paul (Amy) Jensen, Jeanette (Michael) McMillan, Deborah (Kelly) Lucas, Douglas (Shannon) Jensen, Jeffrey (Danielle) Jensen, and Jolene (Andre) Ransom.
Dad was a hard worker his entire life. After returning from the Holland Belgium mission in 1963, he ran a gas station in Roy. In 1972 he founded Jensen Auto Service where he worked long hours trying to make sure everyone was taken care of.
He was a man of many talents, with a thirst for new things; which he would teach himself. He's well known for his embroidery and Dutch oven cooking, but he could also sew, fix computers, diagnose vehicles by the taste of the fluid, tend honey bees to extract honey, learned to play the clarinet in his 70's, and so much more.
His children have many fond memories of summer trips spent woodcutting. He made sure everyone had a job, even the smallest of children.
Dad loved to camp and he loved to cook. Dad enjoyed feeding people, "if you don't have plenty of leftovers, then someone didn't get enough of what they wanted."
Dad took it upon himself to look out for everyone. It didn't matter who you were. He wanted to help everyone and went above and beyond the call of duty. He really did give others the shirt off his back and more.
Dad taught us the importance of family. His family was the world to him. Everything he did was for the good of his family. He taught us love, respect, and service. His listening ears were available day or night.
One of Dad's closest friends was his "little buddy" Cookie, an Umbrella Cockatoo. For years he would carry him around everywhere he went.
Dad, we will miss the long talks and advice. We will forever cherish the wood cutting trips, the huge pots of never ending soup, the long days cooking for parties, our children sitting on your lap or going on longs rides. We'll miss the "roundy rounder" days when we waited in a line on the lawn, for our turn to ride your motorcycle with you. Dad, to quote your sister, you are a "big guy with a big heart and it's going to leave us with a big hole." We're grateful for all you've taught us and done for us. We love you!
Marv was preceded in death by both his parents and survived by his 5 brothers and 1 sister, wife, children and spouses, 23 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to the fantastic staff at Stonehenge and Encompass who not only gave our father loving care, but also offered us caring support. Thank you is not enough.
A viewing will be held Thursday, September 27th from 6-8 pm at Myer's Mortuary 5865 S 1900 W Roy. His funeral will be held Friday, September 28th at 11 am at the LDS Church Stake Center 2175 W 4250 S, Roy UT 84067 with a viewing proceeding the funeral at 10 am.
