MARY LOIS BARNES

ROY - Mary Lois Barnes, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. She returned to her loving Heavenly Father after succumbing to cancer, which she referred to as the "dang hitchhiker". Mary fought valiantly and with dignity and will be cherished eternally by her loved ones. Mary Lois is now reunited with her earthly loving father, Sammy and doting mother, Alice, who are rejoicing. She is dearly loved and will be missed by her family.

She was born on May 29, 1941, a daughter of Samuel Hartley and Alice Caroline Garten Mason, in King City, Missouri.

She married Donald Joe Hunt on October 18, 1956. They were later divorced. She married Gordon Ardell Barnes on March 25, 1968. They spent 42 happy years together.

Mary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon, and children; Cindie G. (Bruce) Dodenbier, Kerrie D. (Chris) Sine, Timathie Joe (Jacklyn) Hunt, Robert C. (Melisa) Barnes, Michele Barnes (Jamie Wilcken) and Alan (Cindy) Barnes, 30 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her sister, Doris (Ron) Liston.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah. Friends and family may call on Friday, June 4, 2010, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m., prior to services.

Interment in the Evanston Cemetery.
