Mary Beth Chadwick Obituary (1925 - 2016)

Mary Beth Chadwick Click here to listen to the funeral recording. Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Mary Beth Chadwick, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2016. She was born on May 14, 1925 to Hugh and Gertrude Findlay in Smoot, Wyoming, the 6th of 9 children. She grew up on a farm where one of her jobs was to feed and take care of the calves. She graduated from Star Valley High School where she was Student Body president. At the age of 17 while still in High School, she married Don L. Chadwick in the Logan Temple on October 13, 1942. They were blessed with 5 children: Betty (Alan) Yorgason, Plain City, UT, John F (Rosanne) Chadwick, Roy, UT, David F (Debbie) Chadwick, North Ogden, UT, Janis (Kelly) Wakley, Malad, ID and Don Wayne (Kara) Chadwick, Pleasant View, UT. She has 32 grandchildren and 68 great grandchildren with twin boys on the way. Mary Beth was active in the LDS church and held many callings, including Primary President, Young Women President, and Relief Society President. She also served in the North Ogden Stake Relief Society Presidency. She was also a member of the DUP for many years and held many positions in that organization. In 1995 she had the honor of being named Weber County Mother of the year. Don and Mary Beth lived on a farm in Osmond, Wyoming until the fall of 1962 where they moved to North Logan, UT so that Don could attend USU to receive his Masters and Doctorate degrees. They then moved to North Ogden in 1965 when Don became a Botany Professor at Weber State. Mary Beth had always loved to work in her flower garden. Many wedding receptions were held in their back yard showcasing her beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and singing. She sung in many duets and trios for funerals and church functions. Her favorite singing partner was her husband, Don. She also enjoyed hiking with her primary boys and her grandchildren. She climbed Ben Lomond and Mt. Lewis many times and was still hiking in her 70s. Don and Mary Beth also served a mission to the Philippines where they became very close to the people there. She also taught music to many of the Filipino children. Her grandchildren fondly remember the Easter parties and 24th of July parties that she loved to hold in her beautiful yard. She is survived by her children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Jensen; and brothers, Gary (Wanda) Findlay and Paul (Audrey) Findlay. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Don; parents; brothers, Merrill, Charles, Ross and Douglas; sister, Isabell Hunsaker and granddaughter, Julie Yorgason. Special thanks to South Ogden Post-Acute and Brookdale Assisted Living for the love and care they showed to Mary Beth. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the North Ogden 11th Ward, 2340 North Fruitland Drive. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd and prior to services from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
