Mary Laverne Edgar

West Valley City - Mary LaVerne Barnes Edgar, 93, died Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at the Wasatch Care Center in Ogden.

She was born July 30, 1908 in Evanston, Wyoming to Brigham and Mary Ann Brown Barnes. She married Cecil Johnston in Evanston. They were later divorced. She later married Matt Edgar. He preceded her in death. She later married Relvin D. Cunningham. He also preceded her in death.

She was a member of the LDS Church, a member of the Ogden Garden Club and loved working with patients at the Adams Retirement Center.

She grew up in Evanston, later moving to Salt Lake City. She had been a nurse at Holy Cross Hospital. In 1972 she moved to Ogden, later returning to the Salt Lake City area. The past six months she had resided at the Wasatch Care Center in Ogden.

Surviving are two daughters-in-law, Helen Johnston, Montgomery, Alabama; Becky Johnston, Georgetown, Idaho; a niece, Myrna Burbank, who was her primary caregiver, nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by her loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by sons, Donald E. Johnston, Cecil LeRoy Johnston; a daughter, Eileen E. Weaver Beckstrand; three grandchildren and 12 brothers.
