MARY JANE HENDERSON

ROY -- Mary Jane Hitson Henderson, 99, died Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the home of her sister's granddaughter surrounded by the family who loved her.

She was born April 15, 1906 in Loango, Alabama, a daughter of Solomon Farmer Hitson and Bama Hutcheson.

She married Bowden Henderson on March 1, 1946.

She was raised and educated in Alabama and Georgia. She moved to Utah in 1990 to live with her sister Bobbie Thomas who lovingly cared for her for over 15 years.

Mary spent much of her life caring for family and friends. Whenever someone was ill, she would be the one summoned to sit by a bedside offering comfort and love. She was a sweet lady, not one to complain, and whenever family came to visit she would always say, "You come back, hear." Mary had no children of her own, but she dearly loved her nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. She was especially fond of Sam and talked of him often. She was an avid reader and did so until she could no longer see even large print.

She is survived by her sister, Bobbie (Jack) Thomas, of Roy; nephews, Jack (Charlie Ruth) Hitson, Al (Shirley) Hitson, of Georgia, Harry (Ethel) Hitson, of Florida, and Steve Thomas, of Ogden; nieces, Carolyn (Tony) Toscan, of Ogden, Patty (Wally) Wintle of West Haven, Debra (Jace) Holt, of Roy, and Jackie (Lon) Hanson, of NeeNah, Wisconsin. She is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and five sisters.

The family is appreciative to the many Hospice caregivers who came to our aid the last few days and especially to a great-niece, Mandi, who allowed us the opportunity to be close to her prior to her death.
