Mary Etta O'Brien

ROY - In loving memory of Mary E. O'Brien 77, who passed away peacefully on August 10, 2013 of natural causes - her family by her side.

Mary was born December 22, 1935 in Phippsburg Colorado, the daughter of Mae Josephine O'Donnell, Joseph Henry Hains, and Monney O'Donnell.

Known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, some may be surprised to learn of the extreme shyness of her youth. Yet even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Mary loved the outdoors: camping, fishing, coaching softball, bowling, and loved to travel. She loved creating unique ceramic dAC.cor with her family and friends and proudly displayed her finished product throughout her home. She loved country music and loved to play her 45's loud on early Saturday and Sunday mornings. Her favorite activity however, was spending time with her family and friends. Throughout her life she maintained endearing friendships with everyone she met. Her candid demeanor, quick wit, contagious smile and sparkle in the eye, won the trust and hearts of many.

Mary was raised in Oak Creek Colorado. She met and married the love of her life, James F. O'Brien in Albuquerque New Mexico, on July 3, 1952. Her family was raised in Roy Utah where she leaves behind many loving friends and neighbors. Mary was a very loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, James F. O'Brien, Roy, 5 five children; Jim (Kathy) O'Brien, West Point, Michele (Dale) Cowley, Roy, Michael (Robin) O'Brien, Clinton, Greg (Kathy) O'Brien, Plain City, Laura (Russell) Sortor, West Point, 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the hospice providers at Community Nursing Services and Mountain View Nursing Home for all their time, effort and tender care of our mother.
