Masayuki Kano

BRIGHAM CITY- Masayuki Kano, 88, died Sunday, February 15, 2004 at his home.
He was born January 31, 1916 in Auburn, Washington, a son of Kenjiro and Matsue Yamanaka Kano. Mas spent much of his youth in Japan attending school. He returned to the United States at the age of Fourteen, continued his education and later ran the family farm after his fathers death. His family was re-located to internment camp in 1942, first to Tule Lake, CA, and then to Topaz, UT a year later. Mas married Shizue Cecile Nisogi on November 29, 1946 in Salt Lake City and worked various jobs throughout his career and in 1966 was employed by Defense Depot in Ogden where he retired in 1986 after suffering a heart attack.
Mas was an active Buddhist and a member of the Honeyville Buddhist Temple.
He enjoyed the company of family and friends and spending time doing yard work. He also enjoyed watching baseball and going to Wendover.
Surviving are four sons Ronald of Clovis, CA, David (Wendy) of Brigham City, Louie of West Valley City, UT, Lawrence of Fruit Heights, UT; one daughter Karen of Layton, UT; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; four brothers Hiroyuki Kano Brigham City, Shigeo Kano , Osamu Kano, both of Seattle, WA, John Kano Placentia, CA and one sister Hisako Minaga of Salt Lake City.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Friends may call Friday February 20, 2004 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East Brigham City. Funeral Service will be 3:00 pm on Saturday February 21, 2004 at Myers Mortuary. Interment will be at the Brigham City Cemetery.
