Maurene Bjorkman Fowler Wiggins Obituary (1929 - 2002)

MauRene Bjorkman Fowler Wiggins WASHINGTON TERRACE--MauRene Bjorkman Fowler Wiggins passed away at home on December 12, 2002 and rejoined her husband and many loved ones. She was born at home May 2, 1929 in Grace, Idaho to Vernal W. and Flora Bjorkman Fowler. She lived on farms near Grace and Bancroft, Idaho until her family moved to Ogden in May of 1944. She graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber College. She married Keith Eugene Wiggins on August 25, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were devoted to each other and had a wonderful life raising four sons. They served a mission together in Independence, Missouri and traveled to Hawaii, China, the Holy Land, and more. Music was an important part of her life, both listening to and playing the organ and piano. She was ward organist at age twelve, a calling she has held most of her life, and was active with the organ group she loved up until the time of her death. MauRene was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She attended the temple weekly and loved Institute classes, Know Your Religion lectures, Education Week, and Women's Conference. She was generous, caring, and had a gift for helping people feel good about themselves. She looked forward to yearly retreats at Canon Beach, Oregon, with her siblings. She cherished every moment she had with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a refined woman who read widely, loved the symphony, ballet and art, but who also retained the humility and down-to-earth sensibilities of her farm-girl roots. Her dearest treasures were her family (which includes 19 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren), her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and her testimony of its truthfulness and her friends. Her life was given in service to others and she will be missed by all who knew her. MauRene is survived by four sons: Lyle (Jane) Wiggins, Mark (Susanne) Wiggins, Brad (Anita) Wiggins, and John (Sharon) Wiggins; 17 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; her mother, Flora Fowler; brother and sisters, LaMont (Lorene) Fowler, LaRelia (Bob) Jones, Carla Owen, and Adria Fulkerson (Richard Anderson). She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith E. Wiggins, her father, Vernal Fowler, and grandsons, Jared and Christopher Wiggins.
