Mcduffie D. Thomas Obituary (1953

Thomas D. McDuffie Tom, you left before saying goodbye You left before letting us cry But, we remember with a laugh and a sigh That where you are now You are "just happy to be there". Our friend, Thomas McDuffie, 57, died suddenly as a result of complications from surgery in Ogden, UT. He was born September 6, 1953 and was raised by an aunt. At age 17 Tom came to Utah as part of Job Corps. Tom was a very private person, but from time to time, he would share a story, usually humorous, of his growing up. Tom saw most of life through the lens of humor. When talking with him it did not take long before you were smiling and then laughing from an event that Tom was recounting. Tom had an innate goodness and was very compassionate. He loved animals especially cats. He had one cat, Boris Ann, he cared for until the cat died but he also fed all of the neighborhood strays. Tom was usually a reluctant participant but once he was involved, he would tend to go overboard with exuberance. If one item was needed, he would bring several and then wonder if more were needed. For the last 25 years, Tom worked for the Internal Revenue Service where he made many friends. Tom received the prestigious Star Award with the Internal Revenue Service for approaching the tax law changes with a positive attitude. He always created a calm team environment and got the job done despite the many changes. Tom was a member of the Hope Resurrected Church. Tom will be greatly missed by his friends and work family. This could be said to be Tom's creed for life "If God brings you to it He will bring you through it. Lord, I love You and I need You, come into my heart today. For without You I can do nothing". Gone But Not Forgotten - for Thomas Your life touched many while here on this earth A special soul from the onset of birth You brought to our lives a presence so true Better people are we for having known you Gone from outsight, but not from our minds Forever branded, your face so loving and kind Thank you dear Thomas for you laughter and care Of you, we'll forever hold, memories shared Your smile, your humor in our hearts will stay We'll think of you often with joy and say "Farewell for now, our brother and friend; Have a safe journey to life without end". Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Fred Lopez and will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Interment, Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.
