Beemus, Melba Elizabeth Richardson Anderson - beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, returned to her Heavenly Father on November 20, 2014. She was born March 9, 1932 to Wanda Ann Bowden and Jedediah Grant Richardson in her grandfather Bowden's home in Brigham City, Utah. She was the fifth of twelve children - 6 boys and 6 girls. Jedediah Richardson Jr., Cleopha Cogdill, Kathleen DeGunia, Wanda Lavern Tanner, Oscar Lavon Richardson, Alden Jay Richardson, Robert Josiah Richardson, Merlin Grant Richardson, David Gene Richardson, Ileen Richardson and Rhea Christiansen. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and grew up in a religious home. She held many different callings within the church during her lifetime and when she was older served in the South Carolina, Charleston Mission and a Genealogy mission in Salt Lake City.
Melba loved school when she was young. She attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham. She also attended three years of Seminary and graduated from that as well. Her favorite subjects and interests were Debate, Drama, Biology, Physics and Genetics. She received a "Bee pin" upon graduation from High School for outstanding work in the speech department. She also received a scholarship to Weber College which she attended for her first year in Nurses training. She then went on to graduate from the Thomas D. Dee Memorial School of Nursing in 1953 and became an R. N. Later in life she would go back to school and was certified as a Critical Care Nurse and worked in the ICU at Cottonwood Hospital in Murray, Utah.
In 1953 she married James Stewart Anderson in the Idaho Falls Temple. James and Melba went on to have six children: Dee James Anderson, Scott Stewart Anderson, Jerilyn Cross, Michelle Suzette Whitaker, Marvin W. Anderson and Heidi Melba Anderson. They moved several times during their marriage, eventually settling in Sandy Utah. Later they divorced. In 1976 she married John C. Beemus and lived in Granger, Utah for about two years then moved back to a home in Sandy where she lived for over thirty years. She spent her remaining years in St. George and Brigham City, Utah.
Melba had many interests. She loved hiking, gardening, crocheting, reading good books, camping, growing beautiful roses and other flowers, and traveling, among other things. One of her favorite trips was to Egypt and Jerusalem. She loved to show pictures and tell you all about where she'd been.
Melba loved her children and adored her grandchildren. She loved to spoil them and give them treats whenever they came over. Nothing could bring a smile to her face more quickly than being with her grand kids.
Melba was a strong woman with strong opinions and a personality to boot. She was a hard worker and got things done. She taught her kids to be and do the same. She loved to have fun and laugh. She loved watching her kids and grandkids at their sporting events as well as their plays and recitals. She was a giving person that taught her kids how to be helpful and serve others. She will be greatly missed, but we know that we will all be able to see and embrace her again one day and it will be a wonderful reunion.
Melba is preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband's James and John, brothers Jed, Merlin, Oscar and Alden, her sister Ileen, and her daughter Michelle.
