Melba Adams Klee
1928 - 2003
Melba Adams Klee was born 18 February, 1928 in Sublet, ID., to William Samuel and Eliza Ann Horn Adams. She passed from this world, peacefully in her sleep, on 21 April, 2003.
Melba was raised on the family farm in Sublet, ID., with her 13 brothers and sisters, where she attended school in the one room school house. When not working hard on the family farm the kids would run through the fields picking wild flowers, eat apples in the orchards and pick watercress in the streams near the reservoir to make lovely sandwiches. After her high school graduation, she moved to Salt Lake City, UT., to attend beauty school. It was here that she met Harry Klee, who was recently returned from WWII and she knew this was the man she was to wed. They were married on 12 May, 1951, and later solemnized their marriage in the Logan, UT., LDS temple. The new couple were very happy when their first child, Tari was born and together as a family they enjoyed camping and took many trips to the canyons and forests of the West. Several years later they decided to adopt another child, Troy and made the trip to Seattle, WA., to pick up the family addition.
Melba was a life long member of the Knit Wits club and many a night would see them gathered to knit, crochet and chat the evenings away. Shortly after the graduation of their daughter, Melba and Harry decided to give their hand at running a small farm and moved the family to Preston, ID. Here they added more friends to their list of loved ones. During this time their daughter Tari was attending BYU and their son Troy was becoming involved in his lifelong love of the theatre.
In 1976 Melba and Harry were very proud parents when their daughter married Gary James in the Salt Lake LDS temple. The new couple started their family and made grandparents of Melba and Harry with the births of Shiloh Marie and Christiaan Klee.
Melba loved playing the part of the doting grandmother and showered the children with love and attention. Melba enjoyed getting the new school photos and talking to the grandkids on the phone, but she really enjoyed their visits. Recently Melba was beaming with pride when Shiloh married Jared Howland and with the return of Christiaan after service of his LDS mission.
In May of 2001 Melba and Harry celebrated 50 years of love and life together. The were honored by President and Mrs. Bush as well as Governor and Mrs. Leavitt and also received well wishes and accolades from their family and friends.
In the most recent years Melba was limited in her ability to fully enjoy life but her devoted husband Harry was there to help her and take care of her every need. Harry stood by his wife and saw that her every need was attended to.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Ida and Ella, and her brothers Roy, Melvin, Elmer, Parley, Dean, Wesley and Kenneth.
Melba is survived by her loving husband Harry, her children Tari and Troy, her grandchildren Shiloh and Christiaan and her sisters Della, Myrtle, Lavon and Faye.
