Our amazing and kind-hearted father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend Michael "Mabu" Ruben Martinez, 60, peacefully returned home on September 26, 2017. He was born on March 14, 1957 in Ogden, Utah to Ruben and Ida Martinez. He married Brenda Robinson on September 26, 1987 and gained a daughter, Dallas. They had a daughter, Brianna, together. Michael later had another daughter, Isabel.

He had a strong belief in God and was a devout Catholic. In his younger years, he enjoyed the outdoors, playing golf, basketball, and baseball, and driving in his little red Celica. His favorite things were spending time with family, cooking, coloring with his grandchildren, and watching sports. He was a diehard Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Dodgers fan. He retired from Centurylink.

Michael is survived by best friend, Brenda; children, Brianna (Kyle) Bladen, Dallas (Jason) Howell, and Isabel Martinez; grandchildren, Brittnie, Aryana, Jaxton and Elijah; siblings, Marcella (Andres) Esquivel, Rose (Richard) Ulrich, and Samuel (Christine) Martinez.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Ida; and adopted brother, John Peterson.

The family would like to deeply thank Dr. Daniel P. Lupash and staff in the Rheumatology department at McKay Dee Hospital for taking such good care of him.

A viewing will be held Sunday, October 1, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th St., Ogden.

Interment, Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., Ogden.
