Michael ''Mike'' Anthony Panunzio Obituary (1920 - 2002)

Michael "Mike" A. Panunzio PLAIN CITYa"Michael "Mike" A. Panunzio, age 82, passed away on July 10, 2002, in Ogden, Utah. He was born on February 23, 1920, to Biago and Merceda Petitti Panunzio in Tooele, Utah. He was raised on the farm in Riverdale. Upon the death of his father in 1939 he was the sole provider for the family. He married Evelyn Perry on June 9, 1945 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He purchased his farm and moved to Plain City in April of 1946. He was a member the Lions Club of Plain City and a member of the Men's Church Club of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He loved to take his grandchildren and great grandchildren fishing. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fly-fishing. Mike, with a couple of friends, made fruit baskets at Christmas time and delivered them to elderly people. He was Plain City's first Grand Marshall in the 4th of July parade in 1982. Mike was well known for his farming abilities and took pride in his farm. He was unselfish to everyone, sharing his produce and sending you home with something every time you left. A special thanks to Sam Hori for the concern and care shown to the family. Everyone should have a friend like him and he is considered a member of the family. Also a special thanks to the family for the love and support shown while Mike was in the hospital, especially his sister, Irene, and brother, Shanze. Mike is survived by his wife, Evelyn, two daughters and one son, Lynda Statler of Farr West, Nancy (Corey) Hopkins of Ogden, and Mike W. (Linda) Panunzio of Plain City, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons. Also surviving is one sister, Irene Mastronardi of Ogden, one brother, Shanze (Eva) Panunzio of Riverdale, and many nieces and nephews and his loving and faithful, little dog, Ginger.
