Mildred Elva (Ahouse) Tolle Obituary (1935 - 2019)

Mildred Elva Tolle Of North Ogden Utah passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 2:57 pm, surrounded by her family. Born Tuesday, January 22, 1935 in Nanticoke, Pa to Bernard Victor and Edith Marie Brush Ahouse, the youngest child. She was baptized May 5, 1935 at St. John's Lutheran church. She was confirmed March 21, 1947 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her parents and all of her siblings: Edith, Morgan, Almena, Anna, Bernard, Ruth, Olga, and Alfred proceeded her into heaven. Mildred graduated from Binghamton High School at 17 while working as a page in the New York Library, and went to work at NY Bell for 12 years. She happily and romantically married Robert Dale Tolle on May 12, 1962 at Tabernacle Methodist Church one year to the minute from their meeting in church. Two years later they gave birth to Melinda Edith and three years after that to Charles Robert. She attended the private Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Liberal Arts University Lenoir Rhyne in Hickory NC. Millie valued God, family, and education. She served others all of her life: Home room mother to all of Melinda and Chip's classes, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den mother, United Methodist Women multiple offices including President in several churches across the country. She held her homemaker profession as the most challenging and important avocation in the world. Millie loved God, her family, living in new places (PA, NY, NC, UT), traveling to meet new friends and to see our Earth's natural wonders, camping, hiking, history, science, genealogy, horticulture, reading, sewing, gourmet cooking, art, theater, music, and walking. She traveled from the furthest northwest place in North America in Alaska to the southeast place in Florida and everywhere in between. She loved the oceanside, mountains, woods, northern lights, alpine glow, and being at the arctic circle. All the United States of America were Millie's playground except Hawaii, and Canadian providences except Newfoundland, and Nunavut (you'd have to fly). Millie loved bookstores, shopping, president's homes, libraries, capitols, dams, museums, aquariums, zoos, amusement parks, birds, historical places, and especially national parks. Millie was most pleased to be promoted to Grandma by Dr. Charles and Laura Tolle who gave to Millie, her most loved and adored three grandchildren: Anne, Ruth, and Jonathan. She helped others whenever and wherever she could. Millie will be remembered for her kind and warm hugs to anyone - "who looked like they needed one". She continued to teach her caregivers, and new friends until her journey here on earth was won.
