Mike G Espolon Obituary (1927 - 2012)

CLINTON - Mike G. Espolon, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012, at the age of 85. He was born in Pontevedra, Philippines, a son of Perfecto and Adoracion Gasapo Espolon. On September 8, 1958, he married Hisako Onuki, in Tokyo, Japan. Mike faithfully served in the Army and Air Force from 1953 - 1974. His military career took him to Guam, France, Okinawa, Philippines, Japan, Hawaii, and Nebraska. After the military, he worked at Hill Air Force Base as a Utilities Operations Civil Engineer, retiring after 18 years of service. He was an avid tennis player and loved following the professional sport. He enjoyed photography, karaoke, and had a wonderful voice. Mike is survived by his wife, Hisako; daughter, Norma Milstead and son, Rene Espolon; and two granddaughters, Marisa and Nicole. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and three brothers. The family would like to give thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care given to him at University Hospital and Huntsman Cancer Hospital. A gathering will be held for family and friends on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah, with military honors and sharing of memories at 7:30 p.m. Cremation under the direction of Myers Roy Mortuary.
