Myrna Marie Lenon Furniss

HARRISVILLE - Myrna Marie Lenon Furniss, 70, died peacefully surrounded by her family, on Sunday, January 21, 2007 of cancer. Myrna was born on March 9, 1936 in Twin Falls, Idaho, daughter of Audie Lenon and Lola Cobb. She was the last of 7 children and always had a special relationship with her mom who called Myrna "sister."

She is survived by her husband Ron, children, Ronald Scott (Teri) Furniss of Harrisville; Craig Lenon (Kelli) Furniss of Evanston and Lola Robyn (Dale) Wilkinson of Ogden. She is also survived by siblings Ruby Irene Hendrix of Twin Falls, ID; Harold "Shang" (Irene) Lenon of Laguna Hills, CA; Donald Clyde (Walli) Lenon of Pocatello, ID and Frederica (Paul) Juchau of Eden, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kirk and by brothers, Floyd and Jim.

Myrna spent most of her life in the service of others together with her companion Ronald Grant Furniss who she married on January 29, 1952. Unbeknownst to her mom, at the age of 16 she eloped with Ron to a neighboring county to be married by the justice of the peace. Being the respectful man he was, he took her home right after the ceremony and he returned to his own apartment. They lived separately for a short time until Ron was sent to California with the military. At that point, Myrna told her mom she was married and wanted to join her husband in California. Because she married at such an early age she didn't have the opportunity to finish high school, but wanting to be an example to her children she went back to school and graduated at the age of 35.

Myrna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was sealed to Ron in the Logan LDS temple on May 22, 1958. She served in many positions in a variety of different wards and worked at Osco Drug for 12 years.

Her pride and reason for living were her 4 children and 18 grandchildren. She and Ron shared a unique dedication to each other and were seldom seen apart.

Myrna enjoyed arts and crafts, Christmas Eve with her family, camping, attending the grandkid's activities, family reunions with her brothers and sisters, traveling, cruises, gardening and painting rocks.

Special thanks to Angie, Elizabeth, Nan, Valita, Lora Lee, Allison and all of the staff at Inspiration Hospice for the wonderful love and care they gave mom and dad.
