Myrtle Jensen

–

Roy, Utah

Myrtle Alice (Moore) Jensen, 89, of Roy, Utah, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, at the Sunridge Assisted Living of Roy. She was reunited with her eternal companion. Myrtle was born on September 6th, 1935, in Ogden, Utah. She was the third child of Franklin Charles Moore and Leara (Waddoups) Moore.

Myrtle grew up in Ogden where she attended school and graduated from Ogden High School. She learned the importance of living off their small farm. She often spoke of picking raspberries when she was two years old. She was very helpful because she could pick the lower raspberries without any trouble. She learned from her mother to can and cook. She produced the perfect jars of peaches and mastered the making of the best rolls.

Myrtle married Donald Jensen in Ogden on March 12, 1954, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Starting in September of 1955 they made Roy, Utah their home. Together they were blessed with two sons and five daughters. Dad and Mom both like gardening and beautiful flower beds. Mom spent endless hours serving and caring for the needs of her husband, children, and grandchildren. She learned to make the best out of humble means. This included sewing many of our clothes, a lot of canning, and sewing doll clothes which she sold from her home. After Dad retired, Dad made wood crafts and Mom continued sewing doll clothes they took and sold at craft shows.

Myrtle was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She demonstrated great faith in Jesus Christ, the Priesthood, and prayer. She served in many callings throughout her life and was an Ogden Temple worker. She was always a missionary at heart and her greatest missionary success was our dad. Her passion was genealogy. She cherished her pioneer heritage, especially that of William Waddoups Sr. and David Moore. She was so proud to tell their stories.

Myrtle is survived by her children: Les (Kathy) Jensen, Kenneth Jensen, Kathy Cummings, Lori (Scott) Webb, Sherry Jensen, Judy (Timo) Jones, a sister-in-law Edna Moore, and 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Jensen, daughter Katherine, her parents, Franklin and Leara Moore, Brother Donald Moore, Sister Charlene (Ron) Petersen, and son-in-law Greg Cummings.

We would like to thank Shannon, Sydney, and Karlee of Atlas Homecare and Hospice and Sunridge Assisted Living of Roy staff for their kindness, support, and care for our mother. We are also grateful for the timely visits of ward members, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5127 South 2400 West, Roy, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 AM at the church. She will be buried next to her husband in the Ogden Cemetery after the services.
