Nancy Lee (Cowan) Armstrong Obituary (1926 - 2021)

Nancy Lee Armstrong passed away surrounded by her family on June 30, 2021. She was born on September 20, 1926 in Santa Rita, New Mexico to Iva G. Rockhold and George M. Cowan Sr. Nancy graduated from Roswell High School in New Mexico. She married Paul Manlove and they had a son together. They later divorced. She married Edward "Cherry" Armstrong on May 13, 1945 in Hobbs, New Mexico and the family moved around the Southwest following his career in the oil fields, eventually settling in Utah. Nancy had a career as a tax examiner and retired from the IRS before returning to her hometown of Roswell. She lived there for twenty years, until recently moving back to Utah to be near her children. Nancy was very active in the Presbyterian Church, holding various offices throughout her life. She made many lifelong friends through quilting and other church groups, along with her numerous volunteer activities. Nancy was a talented crafter who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and making gifts for family and friends. She was an avid Jazz and Suns fan and loved all sports. She loved coaching Michael's sports teams, and became an amazing mentor to many of her children's friends. Anyone who knew our mom, was blessed to experience true compassion and unconditional love. Nancy is survived by her children: Randy (Darlene) Armstrong, Penelope Armstrong, Cherrie Lee Suggs, Trish (John) Provence and Ed (Deborah) Armstrong, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and sister Kathleen Haley. She was preceded in death by husband Cherry, her parents, daughter Deborah Erickson, son Michael Armstrong and son-in-law Dave Suggs, grandson Nathan Provence, great-grandson Keifer Provence, siblings George (Yvette) Cowan and Anne (Richard) Gravel. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Nancy's services will be live streamed on her obituary page on Myers website www.myers-morutary.com where the service will remain indefinitely.
