Nathaniel Montgomery Taggart

–

North Ogden, UT

NORTH OGDEN - Nathaniel Montgomery Taggart returned peacefully to his Heavenly Father on March 8, 2006 at the amazing age of 95.

Nat was born in Wilson Lane (Ogden) Utah on August 12, 1910.

Nat graduated from Utah State University and worked as a head dairyman at the Utah State Hospital in Provo. While in Provo, he met his wife to be, Bernice Anderson. They were married on September 1, 1936 in the Salt Lake Temple by David O. McKay. They built their first home in Ogden where Nat worked as an agricultural county agent in the Morgan/Weber counties, as well as running a small dairy herd on his family farm. He taught school for a time at Wahlquist Jr. High and in 1951 the family moved to Salt Lake City where he began working for Union Pacific Railroad as a claims agent.

He had a great love for the Lord and was a member of the Highland View Ward in Salt Lake City for 45 years where he served faithfully in many positions. He loved to sing in the ward choir and did so for most of his life. He was currently a member of the North Ogden 7th Ward. He served for 15 years as a worker at the Salt Lake Temple.

He was a caring neighbor and friend. He loved his farm in North Ogden and that was his hobby until his retirement from the railroad in 1976, then it became his joy. His love of the farm was passed on to his children and grandchildren. Many happy family memories were made there. The family will never forget all the tractor rides and horse rides. Dad was always available for the family with his support, quiet counsel and love.

Nat is survived by his wife, Bea; their six children, Linda (David) Lundstrom, North Ogden; Suzanne (Larry) Birch, North Ogden; Robert (Sandra) Taggart, North Ogden; Colleen (Rick) Bliss, Bluffdale, UT; Ray (Sue) Taggart, Sandy, UT; and David (Susan) Taggart, Salt Lake, as well as 29 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, John Richard, his parents and two brothers, Weldon and John.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Ogden 7th Ward, 205 E. Elberta Drive. Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Primary Children's Medical Center or the Huntsman Cancer Institute, both in Salt Lake City.
