Ned K "Bud" Blackett Obituary (1921 - 2005)

Ned K "Bud" Blackett OGDEN - Ned K Blackett, 84, passed away peacefully at home of causes incident to age on April 23, 2005. Ned was born on March 3, 1921 in Springville, Utah to Robert Earl and Mary Edna Blackett. He was raised and educated in Springville, graduated from Springville High School where he played football and basketball. He married Ruth McFarlane on July 11, 1942 in Ogden. She passed away in 1980. Ned was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy. He worked all of his life in the grocery business, first with O.P. Skaggs, the Rainbow Market and for many years as store manager for various Stimson's Markets, retiring in 1988. Ned loved the outdoors and especially the Yellowstone and Island Park areas where he had a summer home. His wife and family meant everything to him. He was an outstanding husband and father and a true gentleman. His greatest joy was when he was with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his children: Ned (Linda) Blackett, Jr., North Ogden; Robert (Mary) Blackett, Cedar City; Kim Blackett and Brent Schneider, Salt Lake City. He has five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters.
