Ogden, UT
Nola Steed, 74, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on December 19th, 2020 from complications due to Alzheimer's disease.
She was the first of five children born to Thep Tantikarnjathep and Suchada Ooh. She was born on August 22nd, 1946 in Bangkok, Thailand. While growing up she supported her family with their various Jewelry stores and other family businesses. She attended Catholic Schools in Bangkok and Australia before coming to America to attend and graduate from Stevens-Henager College.
While going to school in Ogden, Utah she met Merrill Adams Steed whom she married in 1972, but not before making him come to Thailand after her. She later joined the LDS Church and they were sealed in the Ogden Temple.
Nola spent her early marriage years as a home maker and raising her four children. She was well known for her emphasis and dedication to educational excellence. Later in life, she found great happiness in how her hard work paid off with all of her children graduating college and having successful careers. Her greatest joy was in her children and grandchildren.
Her working career really started after she had finished raising her children. She worked for 15 years at Pro Pac Labs where she worked her way up to the positions of Production and Quality Manager and helped the company grow from small roots to the large company that it is today. She then retired and took a part time job at Home Depot working for a few more years where she was known to be one of the most friendly and helpful ladies in the Home and Garden department.
Nola was liked and loved by everyone. She was known as the outgoing little lady who would come right up to you, tap your shoulder and say "Hi" and remember your name. Nola remembered everyone and recognized friends and knew someone everywhere she went. She also loved all her neighbors.
Nola is survived by her husband Merrill and her children Marvin Steed, Malissa Seeman, Nicholas Steed, Nola Benstog and eight grandchildren.
Special thanks to Bristol Hospice for their care in Nola's final days.
