Noris W. Ficklin "Nick" Click here to listen to Funeral Recording North Ogden - Noris Worthy Ficklin "Nick", 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 28, 2012. He was born June 26, 1933 in Gonzales, Louisiana to John W. and Agnes C. Gautreaux Ficklin. The family lived on the State Penitentiary State Farm in Louisiana where Nick's father was a guard. They had the trustee inmates as their family helpers in their home and the care of Noris. In 1941 a trip was made to Salt Lake where the family was sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple. The family moved to Salt Lake in 1945. Noris married Sharlene K. Robertson on July 23, 1953 in Yuma, Arizona; they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 3, 1957. He served a Stake Mission in Denver and was the Sunday School Superintendent. Noris worked for Bakers Shoe Store for over 40 years, advancing in Salt Lake to manager and moved to Denver, Indianapolis and then Ogden to open and manage new stores. He loved fishing, hunting and built a cabin in Scare Canyon that his family and friends loved to gather in. He was an exceptional wood worker and built many mantels in homes, computer desks and cabinets. He loved to dance and always had a smile for anyone he greeted. Noris is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharlene; children, Sherrie Jones (Kefford), Noris Kerwin Ficklin (Karen), Judy Kling (Kevin), Rodney Dale Ficklin (Jonene), Dawnene Bankall (Jeff) and John Joseph Ficklin (Laura); 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and his sister, Doris Highee. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, December 3, 2012 at the No. Ogden 16th Ward, 205 E. Elberta Dr. A viewing will be held at the church on Sunday, December 2nd from 6 to 8 PM and Monday prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
