Ogilvie M. Cottrell

–

Ogden, UT

Ogilvie M. Penrose Cottrell passed away during the early morning hours of July 3, 2002. She was an amazing woman that endured more than her share of hardship. She was born on March 10, 1906 to Bertholomew Penrose and Mary Jacobsen Penrose. At an early age her mother became an invalid and her father passed away forcing her to go to work in order to support herself and her mother.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She continued to work hard through a difficult marriage, raised twin daughters, and continued to care for her mother for over 30 years. She married Ralph Bragg Cottrell June 21, 1928 and later divorced. Ogilvie's greatest source of joy was her daughters, Sharon Cottrell Ward and Sherry Cottrell Tullis. They were her crown jewels and her love for them could not have been sweeter. She was a cherished mother and beloved grandmother who's sweet spirit endeared her to all.
She lived on her own in Ogden including 15 years at Fellowship Manor. At 96, she moved to Sunshine Terrace in Logan where she made many friends and enjoyed her new residence. The staff at the Terrace cared for her with hands of love and they became her dear friends. She died as a result of complications from cancer.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Sharon (Don) Ward and Sherry (Paul) Tullis; 9 grandchildren; 1 adopted Russian grandson; 34 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
