Olive Fern Taylor Humphreys
PLEASANT VIEW - Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother Olive Fern Taylor Humphreys, age 86, returned to her Heavenly Father and rejoined her loved ones on Thursday, May 14, 2009. She was born January 19, 1923, in Ogden, the daughter of Elmer Arlen and Olive Loraine Hobson Taylor. She attended Weber County Schools graduating from Weber High School.
She married her high school sweetheart Joyce Edwin Humphreys on June 25, 1942 in Preston, ID. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple November 11, 1969. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints she served as a teacher and visiting teacher. She was always willing to help others and had a very generous, giving spirit with a sweet disposition.
She was raised in Plain City and after she married Dad, she resided in Pleasant View the rest of her life. She was a Civil Service worker where she dedicated many years working at the Utah General Depot, U.S. Forest Service, and the I.R.S. retiring in 1983 after 38 years of service.
She loved to travel with her family in the motor home and enjoyed fishing, camping, shopping, having lunch with her granddaughters, and doing word search puzzles. She did beautiful embroidery, was an excellent housekeeper, was a gracious hostess and loved to have family parties at her home. Fern had a strong and very determined demeanor, surviving breast cancer for 30 years.
Fern is survived by her children, Lynn E. (Cheryl) Humphreys, David S. (Debra) Humphreys, Julie (C. Ray) Moser all of North Ogden and 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and one sister-in-law, Thora Pearce Bishop, St. George, Norda Primavera, Ogden, and Fern Taylor, Roy, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joyce Edwin Humphreys, her parents, sister Orell Hunt, infant brother Jack, and brother Junior Elmer Taylor.
Special thanks to Access Hospice and her nurses, Julie, Kendra, Dawn, and the staff and care givers at Emeritus Estates Memory Care Unit. We extend our deepest appreciation to her personal angels Judy, Pat, Maybi, Renae, and Holly.
