Olive married William J. Kotter September 29, 1939 in the Logan temple. She helped raise his four children and two foster children whom she loved dearly and they loved and respected her in return. She and her husband, served as Stake Missionaries in the Box Elder Stake and the Box Elder Tabernacle in Brigham City. They then served as full time missionaries in the Central British Mission, after which they served as officiators in the Logan, Ogden and New Zealand Temples. They felt serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and setting good examples for their posterity were their greatest accomplishments.
Olive was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William J. in 1995 and his first wife, Almannie, in 1936, daughter, Willa Mae in 1946 at age 15.
Their surviving children and spouses are Alene M. (Dean) Howarth, Brigham City; Jay W. (Donna) Kotter, Brigham City; and Robert H. (Mary Jean) Kotter of Nampa, Idaho. She is also survived in death by one brother Ezra Hale, Blackfoot, Idaho, one sister Pearl Walker, Lyman, Wyoming and many nieces and nephews.
She loved the gospel and working in the temples of the Lord; she was an avid reader and scriptorium. Her children loved her for her devotion to the gospel, to them and to their father. Her favorite pastimes were reading, gardening and needlework.
