Orin Elliott Marcum Click here to listen to the funeral recording. Orin Elliott Marcum, 97, of Ogden, Utah passed away in his home Thursday, May 24, 2018. Orin was born January 1, 1921 in Teton County, Idaho. He was the 6th of 12 children born to Chester Authur Marcum and Nettie Ruth Nethercott. He graduated from Teton High School, in Driggs, Idaho in 1939. He served his country in World War II in the United States Army. Orin and Edna Louise Shinn were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple November 1, 1944. Together they raised three sons and three daughters. After 61 years of marriage, Louise passed away April 2005. Orin and Dale Suzanne (Suzy) Dubendorf were sealed in the Ogden Temple September 29, 2009. In 1950 Orin and Louise moved to Idaho Falls, where he began his career with the Argonne National Laboratory. He worked on the EBR-I breeder Reactor as a reactor operator. He was on the team that produced the first electrical power to come from a nuclear reactor plant. He retired in 1984 after 33 years. He was a very faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He finished five full time missions with Louise and one service mission with Suzy. He is survived by his wife, Suzy of Ogden; six children: Carol (Dwight) Holman of Brigham City; Patricia (Don) Parker, of Rexburg; Orin Elliott Jr (Mary Lou) Marcum, of Idaho Falls, William (JoAnn) Marcum of Missouri; Richard (Jane) Marcum, Illinois; Nancy (Loren) Johnson, of Moab; four brothers: Laverne, Dale, Selar (Elva) Marcum, Shelby (Joyce), five step-children, Arnau Wright, Delwyn (Debra) Wright, Cindy (JC) Davis, Jonathan (Holly) Wright, and Melody Carlin; 59 grandchildren and 96 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Authur and Nettie Ruth; wife, Louise Shinn; grandson, Ryan Parker; and 7 siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Memorial Park Ward, 3755 Porter Ave., Ogden. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 29th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be held on Thursday, May 31st at 3 p.m. at the Cache Clawson Cemetery in Tetonia, Idaho.
