Oris Whitlock Hansen Obituary (1919 - 2006)

Oris Whitlock Hansen "W7RUM" ROY - Oris Whitlock Hansen, 86, passes away October 14, 2006 after struggling many years with Parkinson's. He was born October 27, 1919 in Ephraim, Utah to Hans T. Hansen and Elverna Whitlock. He married Nelma Whiting November 29, 1940 in the Manti Temple. He worked at Lockheed in Southern California before joining the Merchant Marines during WW II. He worked over 30 years for the UPRR before retiring in 1983. He enjoyed talking on his ham radio, fishing, photography, his computer, woodworking, and water skiing even when it was snowing. He and Nelma owned a second home in Yuma, Arizona. He is survived by one son and two daughters, Oris Wayne (Wendy), Layton; Jackie Nelson (Gary), Roy; and Barbara Roop (Clayton), West Haven. He had 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his spouse; daughter, Gerry Singleton; brother, Walt Hansen; and sisters, Dot Braithwaite, Eva Hall, and Carla Whiting. A special thank you to Hospice of Utah for the care they gave. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Roy 3rd Ward, 5930 South 2200 West. Family and friends may call on Monday at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
