Orvel Judkins Hansen
1914 - 2005
WARREN - Orvel Judkins Hansen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend returned to his heavenly home on February 16, 2005, at the age of 90.
Orvel was born in the family home in Warren, Utah on December 16,1914 to Louis Alma and Sarah Evelyn Judkins Hansen. After completing a mission to the Texas-Louisiana mission, he met and married Orla Lund from Plain City. They moved to Warren and Orvel later purchased the family farm from his father. In 1952, after a flood and hail storm that twice destroyed his crops, Orvel took up selling Watkins products to provide income for the family. He continued in the selling business for the next 52 years.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of his most memorable and rewarding callings was in the Seventies Quorum. He also served for about 15 years as a Boy Scout leader. He loved missionary work and served two stake missions, a regional mission and two more full-time missions with his dear wife as his companion. He also served as a temple worker for 10 years.
Orvel loved people and always saw the good in everyone. He was a good friend and generous to all in need. He loved the beauties of nature and relished sharing a beautiful sunset or an interesting animal, insect or plant with his family.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Orla, and their five children and their families: Sandra and Laroy Van Dyke, Teasdale, UT; Larry and Barbara Hansen, Ogden, UT; Douglas and Carolyn Hansen, Ogden, UT; Paula and Greg Brashier, San Jose, CA; and Karen and Kent Tucker, Saline, MI. He is loved and will be missed by 25 grandchildren and 42 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Ed (Jean) Hansen of Ogden, Utah.
