Orville "Rex" Child

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on July 20, 2016 and returned home to his Heavenly Father after a valiant battle with brain cancer. He was born on May 18, 1940 to Orville "Reuel" and Florence Staker Child. He married his sweetheart, Shana Hartley on June 28, 1963 in the Logan Temple. Together they raised five children.

Rex graduated from Weber State College and Pacific Coast Banking School. He served in the Utah National Guard. He was employed by First Security Bank and Wells Fargo Bank as a Trust Officer and Manager and served on several foundation boards, including Cross Foundation, Powell Foundation, McKay Dee Hospital Foundation, and OWATC Foundation.

He enjoyed wood working, gardening, skiing, and camping, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the West Central States Mission and was an ordinance worker at the Ogden Temple among many of his several callings.

Rex is survived by his wife, Shana, his children; Troy (Rena) Child, Cindy (John) Webber, Shane (Kathy) Child, Amber (Chris) Pulver, and April (John) Moody; 14 grandchildren and a sister, Linda (Terry) Hale.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, LaRae.

The family would like to thank Step Forward Hospice, especially Lindsey and Dr. Justin Mansfield, for their service in Rex's final days.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 11 am at the Ben Lomond 1st Ward, 575 E 3100 N, North Ogden. A viewing will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016, from 6 to 8 pm at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, and prior to services on Saturday from 9:40 to 10:40 am at the church.
