Parley Bruce McFarland
(Pat)

CLINTON - Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Pat McFarland passed away on December 5, 2010. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 28, 1931, a son of Donald Blair McFarland and Josephine Leone Hansen McFarland.
In 1958, he married Katherine (Kaye) E. Rutledge and together they had two daughters and one son. During their marriage, they began raising Quarter Horses in Clinton. They supported and were avid fans of their children's participation in horse shows, posses, and High School rodeos. They were later divorced.
In 1977, he married Constance (Connie) L. Petersen. Pat and Connie shared a passion for the great outdoors. They loved to go camping and fishing and spent many hours seeing who could make claim to catching the biggest fish. Connie passed away in 2004.
Pat was reared and educated in the Ogden area until his teens. He then moved to Lemhi Idaho to assist his father and uncle in ranching. He attended Leadore High School in Idaho and was active in many sports, graduating in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952 and served during the Korean War. Upon returning to the Ogden area, he attended Weber State College. Pat was a member of the LDS church.
Upon retirement from Hill Air Force Base, Pat was able to devote more time to his numerous interests. He was an avid outdoorsman and was most content in the mountains where he loved to hunt, fish, or just relax. He was most happy when his children and their families could accompany him on his outings, especially the ones at Whitney Reservoir. Pat was a strong supporter of the Clearfield High School athletic department. For many years he attended 'all' of Clearfield's sporting events. In 2003, he was honored with the state of Utah's "UHSM 2003 Super Fan Award" in recognition of his loyal devotion and support of Utah's youth through High School athletics and activities.
Pat is survived by his children, Kathey (Eugene) Mills, Syracuse; Vicky (Mike) Gerhardt, Plain City; and Rodney McFarland, North Ogden; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister Doris (Ben) McComb, and his half -brothers Robert Van (Gloria) McFarland and Rex (Laurel) McFarland.
He was preceded in death by his wife Connie McFarland, his parents, his brother Donald Blair McFarland, a grandson CJ Gerhardt, and a great-granddaughter Serenity Gerhardt.
