Patricia Janis Madsen
1932 – 2025

Patricia (Pat) Janis Madsen passed away on January 5, 2025 surrounded by family. Pat was born March 29, 1932 to Gertrude Anderegg and Harry Brown Yearsley in Pocatello, Idaho. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1950 and attended Idaho State College.

Pat married Lorin Lamar Madsen on January 26, 1956 in Pocatello, Idaho where Lorin attended Idaho State College. In March 1957 their first son Blake was born. Soon after they moved to Logan, Utah where Lorin attended and then graduated from Utah State University as an Electrical Engineer. After graduation the family moved to China Lake, California where Lorin was employed at the Naval Ordinance Test Station. While in China Lake, Pat tutored kids who were not able to attend school. It was here where their second son, Neil, was born in November 1960. In 1966, Pat and Lorin moved back to Utah where Lorin worked at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, retiring in 1988. Together
with their sons they build three homes in East Layton, each a little higher up the mountain. Pat kept a beautiful home that welcomed her family.

Pat loved America. From the 1960’s she was concerned about our decline and separation from the values of our Founding Fathers. She had a great interest in and participated in the political process. She held meetings in her home with
presentations to educate friends and acquaintances about what was happening to destroy our freedoms and society.

Writing poetry was another of her interests. She wrote many poems about God and country.

Pat enjoyed painting, mainly in watercolor. She was a talented painter. She also enjoyed puppetry. She created puppets for plays that her grandchildren had fun performing with her. Many crafts were created with her grandchildren when they came to visit. On the occasion of Pat and Lorin’s 50th Wedding Anniversary she wrote; “Blake and Neil are the miracles God gave to us. And from them two more unique families have been formed. Each of you eight grandchildren has a very special place in our hearts. We love each of you and you bring joy to our lives!”

Pat believed that Jesus Christ was her Savior and Redeemer and was anxious to return to her Heavenly Home.

Patricia is survived by her son, Blake (Roxene) Madsen; daughter-in-law, Paula Madsen; and grandchildren, Kristiane, Aubrey, Jeffery, Cameron, Alicia, Brock, Sarah, Derek; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lorin; and son, Neil.

Patricia was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed.

We will honor Mom with a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm at Myers Mortuary, 250 North Fairfield Road., Layton. Immediately following, Pat will be laid to rest at the Lindquist Memorial Park, 1867 N. Fairfield Road., Layton.
