Patricia Zabel Obituary (1936 - 2023)

Patricia Zabel passed away on September 27, 2023, at the age of 86. On that fateful day, her body simply wore out after a long and beautiful journey.Patricia was born into a loving family as one of 7 children to Cecil and Gladys Cragun. Pat's early years were spent in Pleasant View, where her parents owned a charming apple orchard. It was there that she developed a deep love for nature and the joy of sharing its bounty with others. Patricia found immense happiness in selling apples from their makeshift roadside stand, and her warm smile and genuine enthusiasm left a lasting impression on all who stopped by.She married her beloved husband Gerald Zabel on March 24, 1975, and together they shared a life filled with love and companionship. They raised a blended family of 10 children, Sheri Martinez, Tim (Janet) Cottrell, Cathy (Gerald) Nichols, Chris Gooch, Robyn Jones, Connie (Bryan) Gable, Sherrie Fisher, Susan (Scott) Andersen, Becky (Greg) Wohlschlegel, Adam Zabel.Patricia was a devoted mother. Her children were her pride and joy. Their home was always filled with laughter, love, and the comforting aroma of homemade meals, as Pat was a fantastic cook, especially her Peanut Butter Fingers. Her dedication to her family was unwavering, and her legacy as a caring and nurturing mother and grandmother will forever be cherished. She had 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.She was a long-time member of the Clearfield Community Church, actively involved in Martha's Circle, and Women's Bible Study.Pat took great pride in being a "lunch lady" for several years. Always quick to sneak an extra cookie for the ones in need. Never wanting a child to go hungry. She was a master at crossword puzzles, often providing answers to her friends when they got stuck.She was also an ardent fan of football and basketball, instilling a shared passion for the game in those around her. Countless days were spent cheering vociferously at the television when her favorite teams, Utah Utes, and Utah Jazz, took the field or court!In addition to her roles as a mother and caretaker, Patricia was a pillar of strength within her community. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need by donating to the Fishes and Loaves, Pregnancy Care Center, and many other organizations important to her family. Her warm heart and compassion touched the lives of many, and her legacy of selflessness will continue to inspire others.As we bid farewell to Patricia Zabel, we remember the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared with her family, friends, and all that knew her. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts, a reminder of the profound impact one person can have on the lives of others.
