Peter J. Almanza Sr.

Farr West - Peter J. Almanza Sr., 79, passed away at his home, of leukemia, on September 23, 2012. He was born December 4, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to Maria Medina and Jose Almanza. He attended Chicago City Schools and was a member of Knights of Columbus in Chicago. Peter married Toni Valdez in Ogden, Utah on March 4, 2000.

Peter served in the U S Air Force during the Korean War.

He worked for Ford Motor Company; retiring in Nov. of 1995. He took great pride in his work.

Peter was a loving and caring man; the love of his life was his wife and best friend, Toni. He loved and adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very proud of them all. He taught them how to live by actions not just words. The positive way he lived his life daily you would have never known he was battling leukemia. Peter continued to show us all how to care with strength, courage and love. His legacy will live on forever.

Peter is survived by his wife, Toni; children Peter J. Almanza Jr. (Jean) of Brandon, FL, Cindy Thornton (Phillip) of Lansing, IL, Laurie Daugharty (Thomas) of Tampa, FL and Nicole Valdez- McMillen (Daniel) of Farr West, UT; 10 grandchildren, Nicole, Alyssa, Deanna, Brittney, Daniel, Nicolas, Matthew, Zachary, Delaynee and Ash; 2 great-grandchildren, Diego and Isabella; his brother, Miguel Almanza; and many nieces and nephews who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; one sister and his son, Michael R. Valdez Jr.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 4050 S. 3900 W., West Haven. Friends may call on Wednesday at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. from 6 to 8 p.m.; a Rosary will be held at 8 p.m. A viewing will also be held prior to the service, at Myers, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at the Ogden City Cemetery.
