Ralph Jay "Griz" Kunzler

Ralph Jay "Griz" Kunzler returned to his Heavenly Father on June 27, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 23, 1940 to David and Lillian Barker Kunzler in Willard, Utah. He went to Willard Elementary school. He was part of the State Football Championship in 1958 and graduated from Box Elder High. He lived in Willard for 31 years and in Ogden for 46 years.

He married his sweetheart, Nancy Ann Sorensen, on October 31, 1959. Together they had 5 children and were married for 57 years.

Griz was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had various church callings. He was a firefighter at Defense Depot of Ogden for 26 years and owned Kunzler's Janitorial Services for 20 years. He enjoyed weightlifting and going to the gym with the guys, gardening, photography, scrap booking, writing in his journal, watching the grandkids play sports and activities, spending time with his family, and watching the Utah Jazz and Denver Broncos.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his children; Kirk Jay (Teresa Rodriguez) Kunzler, Michael Scott Kunzler, Wendy Ann (Shane) Cornett, Peter Shawn (Linda) Kunzler, Heather (J.J.) Chojnowski, and John Michaels; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Kunzler; and sister, Velda Kay Chipman. He is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Howard and Evadine Sorensen, his brothers; Raymond, Willard, Grant and Rex; and his sisters; Iris Meservy, Joyce Matthews, and Barbara Kelly.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9 to 10:40 a.m.
