Randy James Campbell

RIVERDALE - Dear Randy: On May 22, 1955 you were joyfully welcomed into this world by your parents Glen and Valoy Campbell. You had two brothers and two sisters to enjoy, argue, laugh, and fight with during your childhood. Your parents were very proud of you and taught you all the values of life: The importance of teamwork through all the little league baseball games coached and attended to cheer you on; to respect the environment by taking you fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping; and the importance of responsibility by helping you with your daily paper route. Glen and Valoy were always there to take you (and your best acquaintance) either water skiing behind their boat, or up to Snow Basin to snow ski.

Your parents also made sure that school was very top on your list of priorities, seeing to it that you attended school until you graduated from Bonneville High School. That is where I, Kathy Bueche, was the lucky girl you cast your eyes on and stated proudly: "That is the girl I'm going to marry." On October, 1973 we started our life together. You felt it important to provide for your new wife, so in 1974 you joined the Air Force and away we went to Minot, North Dakota where we made many wonderful friends until leaving in 1978. After your tour of duty, we headed home to Ogden where you started working at DDO and then secured a job at HAFB where you worked for 29 years. We started our family in 1979 with the adoption of our first son Christopher. Oh what a proud dad you were telling everyone you had a son and just short two years later in 1981 we were blessed with our second son Adam. You took all the love and teaching you received from your parents and applied them to the raising of our sons. You helped them learn teamwork with the coaching of the WBBA Baseball teams, and all the support you gave them during the soccer, basketball, and football games. You also took your passion of skiing and you made sure your boys had the opportunity to learn to ski. There were many hunting, camping, fishing and hiking trips over the years both when the boys were young, and into their adulthood. After the boys spread their wings and left the nest we decided to travel, taking multiple cruises to Hawaii, Alaska, and the Caribbean. In 2004 you were diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (usually considered a childhood disease), but your case was such a mild one that you were lucky to not have dealt with the problems associated with it until you were 48. You didn't let it get you down however, and after retiring from the air force base, we continued to travel and see the world with our best friends and partners in crime Lori and Rick Nelson. We just loaded up the oxygen and medications needed and off we went to Las Vegas, Mexico, Moab, and even the Oregon Coast. Dr. Liou and the CF team at the University of Utah hospital tried hard to help you through this disease, but as we always knew, it took you away from us on April 29, 2008. Your mom Valoy and your Grandma and Grandpa Campbell were waiting for you on the other side to welcome you home.

You are survived by your father Glen and stepmother Diane, two sisters: Elaine Shortt, Ramona (& Husband Ray) Smith, two brothers: Blaine (& Wife Debbie), Allen (& Wife Lorene), a loving wife: Kathy, two sons: Christopher and Adam, and three grandchildren: Camrin, Kaeleb, and Kaidence. We will all miss you beyond words. As for me, there is a hole in my heart that will never be able to be filled. You are no longer in pain and for that I thank God.

We will celebrate your life one more time at a memorial service at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 2 p.m. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to memorial service.
Cremation under the direction of Myers Roy Mortuary.
I will always love you, Kathy.
