Rao Keith Parker, 93, retired educator and former principal of Weber High School, died on November 29, 2010 of natural causes incident to age. He had been residing at Ashley Manor in Chubbuck, Idaho. His former residence was 1310 Liberty Avenue, Ogden, UT. Rao was born on August 28, 1917 in Canyon Creek, Idaho to Lorenzo R. Parker and Alice Seville Long. On June 15, 1945, he married Lola Irene Mejia. Rao and Lola were later sealed together with their family in the Salt Lake Temple on February 13, 1962. Lola died of cardiac arrest on January 21, 1973. On April 10, 1974, Rao married Edna Bryson Moss. Edna died of natural causes on December 26, 2004. Mr. Parker served his country as a Seaman 1st class in the US Navy from 1945-1946. He graduated from Utah State University in 1948, later obtaining a Masters Degree from USU in 1964. Rao worked as an Agricultural Science teacher at Weber High School for 25 years, as Assistant Principal for five years and as Principal for three years before retiring in 1981. Mr. Parker was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). In 1937-39, Rao served a mission for the LDS Church in Austria/Germany. During his life, Brother Parker served in various church callings principally in the Lorin Farr Ward, including Bishopric Councilor, Sunday School Superintendent and High Priest Group Instructor. Serving as a Future Farmers of American (FFA) Advisor of Weber High School for over two decades he took many of his FFA students on annual camping trips to the Wind River Mountains. Two of his favorite hobbies were fishing and raising Birmingham Roller pigeons. Surviving are one sister and one brother; Ruth Hatch, Challis, ID, and Leo (Lois) Parker, Teton, ID. Also surviving are his three sons and one daughter; Gary (Jolene) Parker, Evanston, WY, Craig (Judy) Parker, Springville, UT, Todd (Debbie) Parker, Orem, UT and Wendy (Craig) Hall, McCammon, ID; two stepdaughters, and one stepson; Sherida Layton, Layton, UT, Christie Pittman, Stockman, CA and Clint Moss, Ogden, UT; Rao had 26 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife Lola and his wife Edna; his parents; and three sisters, Mary Galbreth, Rowene Mitton, and Melba Robinson. A private family viewing will be held on Thursday evening, December 2nd, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT. A public viewing will be held on Friday, December 3rd from 10:00 - 10:45 AM and the funeral will follow at 11:00. Interment will be at the Ogden City Cemetery.
