Rayda Evelyn Hamby Obituary (1918 - 2005)

Rayda Hamby Rayda Evelyn Winterrose Hamby, 86, formerly of Clearfield, Utah, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at her home in Chandler, AZ. She was born May 15, 1918, in Heber City, Utah, to John Gustave and La Preal Mitchell Winterrose. She married James Fred Hamby of Ellington, MO, on Sept. 6, 1938, in Heber City, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 14, 1957. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2000. She graduated from Wasatch High School in 1936 and attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. She had worked at the bank in Heber and Beaver, Utah, She retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1974 where she worked as an administrative assistant. She served faithfully in the LDS Church as a visiting teacher, a Sunday School and Young Women teacher, and as a member of the Relief Society Presidency. She was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers and American Business Women's Association where she served as president. She was an expert seamstress. She loved to read, do ceramics, and collected dolls. She is survived by three children: James Kent (Jane) Hamby of Burley, ID, Wayne D. (Nilva) Hamby of Brazil, and Susan Kay Jacobson of Chandler, AZ. She is survived by 18 grandchildren, 35, great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers: Albert Winterrose (Jacqueline) of Heber City, Utah, and John D. (Audrey) Winterrose of Clearfield. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Dorothy W.
