Rena Fae (Matlock) Atmore Anderson
Rena Fae Anderson passed away peacefully with her son by her side on October 03, 2023 at the age of 86.
Rena was born on August 26, 1937 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She is the daughter of Ellis Mark Matlock and Lorene Marcum Matlock. She graduated from Las Cruces High School.
In 1955 Rena married Richard Frank Atmore. Together they raised two sons. They lived in Las Cruces until moving to North Ogden. Rena had many titles throughout her life but the two that she treasured the most were Mom and Grandma. She devoted her early years to caring for her children. She volunteered as a PTA Board Member, room mother, bookmobile aide and other various positions. Rena kept a beautiful home. Everyone was welcome there. She loved to cook and entertain. She often had friends over for dinner. Her children's friends could count on her to provide a warm place to stay and a taxi service when needed. In the winter they could count on her for a ride to Snow Basin. She loved her family.
Soon after their children were raised Rena and Frank divorced.
Rena loved bowling. She worked for years at Ben Lomond Lanes where she made many lifelong friends. She was a member of the WIBC and bowled often. One of her favorite jobs at the lanes was teaching kids how to bowl. Rena bowled on the Ben Lomond Lanes Scratch Team. In 1976 they won the state championship at the Utah State WBA Bicentennial Tournament where they were able to set a new state record.
In 1984 Rena married Dewey Wray Anderson. Dewey had never married so her family became his family. They were perfect for each other. They loved their life together. They dearly loved their family, friends and neighbors. They enjoyed traveling and spending time together. The holidays were very important to both of them. They worked tirelessly creating lasting memories for their children and grandchildren.
After leaving Ben Lomond Lanes Rena was employed at The Lockhart Company. She worked there for a short period of time until leaving for a career with Old West Mortgage where she worked until she retired.
The family would like to thank The Lodge at North Ogden and their staff for going the extra mile to help our family care for Rena during the last few years of her life.
Rena will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
Rena is survived by her son Robert J (Kera) Atmore of North Ogden; former daughter-in-law Julie Atmore of Ogden; 8 Grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and her brother Joe (Polly) Matlock of Merritt Island, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son John Mark Atmore, her parents and one step granddaughter Nichole Squires Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden with a viewing from 10-11:30am. Interment at Snowville Cemetery.
