Renee Irene Duerden Obituary (1938 - 2012)

ReNee Irene Offret Duerden BRIGHAM CITY - ReNee Irene Duerden, age 73, passed away February 1, 2012 due to complications of diabetes. She was born February 9, 1938 in Bountiful, Utah to Arthur and Odetta Offret. She was raised in North Salt Lake. She married Archie Leroy Duerden in the Salt Lake Temple on June 22, 1956. Shortly after they were married they moved to Brigham City. She was a distributer for the Ogden Standard Examiner for many years where she became a 2nd mother to many paper boys. She loved having them hang out at her home. She was a talented artist and enjoyed writing children's stories. She served as the LDS ward librarian for many years, a calling she treasured. She had a great love of the outdoors, she especially loved trees and flowers. One of her greatest accomplishments was visiting each state in the continental United States together with her husband collecting a rock from each one. In her later years she dedicated many hours to scrapbooking. She devoted her entire life to her children and grandchildren, always providing arts and craft activities. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Archie, daughters: Audrey (Kim) Olsen, Roxane (Jeff) Porter, Robin (Cory) Young, and Ashley (Mark) Braegger, unofficially "adopted" daughter Julie (Kevin) Johnson, and nephew and foster son, Bob (Kate) Machler, nine grandchildren, two great-grand children, sisters: Lona and Carlla, and her brother Farrell. She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandson, BJ Olsen. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Brigham City 8th and 17th Ward Chapel, 139 E. 300 N., Brigham City. Friends may call on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and Saturday from 1:00 to1:40 p.m. at the Church. Interment will be at the Brigham City Cemetery.
